Sound Redefined

Imagine a speaker so intelligently designed, so masterfully crafted, and so meticulously tuned that it delivers the ultimate listening experience under any circumstances. This is the Beolab 90 by Bang & Olufsen. It is destined to completely redefine the future of sound.

The Beolab 90 is equipped with 18 premium Scan-Speak drivers, powered by 18 individual amplifiers that deliver a staggering total output of 8,200 watts per speaker. All of these components are housed within a massive 65 kg cast aluminum structure. In synergy with the most advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) ever implemented in a loudspeaker for home use, it creates an unparalleled acoustic performance.

Beolab 90 is part of the Bang & Olufsen Atelier Program—a bespoke service that allows you to tailor our flagship products to your personal vision. Make your Beolab 90 truly one-of-a-kind with aluminum elements in any color or finish, paired with textiles and wood varieties of your choosing.

Ultimate Versatility.

The Beolab 90 was engineered with ultimate versatility in mind. Thanks to an extensive array of digital and analog inputs, it can be seamlessly connected to virtually any audio source on the market. Furthermore, the Beolab 90 App allows you to control a variety of specialized functions unique to this loudspeaker alone.

The width and direction of the sound beam can be adjusted with ease. Additionally, you can pre-program all Beolab 90 functions and save the presets that you find best suited for various occasions. These presets can be automatically triggered by your Bang & Olufsen television or activated by devices connected to the Beolab 90’s numerous inputs.

Beam Width Control

Reflections from the surfaces in your room impact your listening experience, as they alter both the tonal balance and the precision with which the positions of instruments and vocals are rendered.

Bang & Olufsen’s unique technology, Beam Width Control, allows the Beolab 90 to switch between three modes: "Narrow," "Wide," and "Omni" (omnidirectional).

In "Narrow" mode, the driver units create an extremely precise soundstage—in both width and depth—at the optimal listening position, known as the "Sweet Spot." Consequently, this is the perfect setting for a single person. In "Wide" mode, similar to the Beolab 5, the speakers are optimally aligned for a broader listening area in front of them, ensuring that everyone positioned before the speakers enjoys the same sound experience. In "Omni" mode, the speakers distribute the sound evenly in all directions (360 degrees!), making it the perfect setting for a party.

Switching between these modes is effortless—simply use the dedicated Beolab 90 App or press a single button on your Beoremote One.

Beam Direction Control

With Beam Direction Control, the sound of the Beolab 90 can be steered in any desired direction—for instance, directly forward (default setting) or toward a specific corner of the room. Just like Beam Width Control, the direction of the sound beam can be adjusted seamlessly using either the Beoremote One or the Beolab 90 App.

In tandem, Beam Width Control and Beam Direction Control provide unprecedented steering capabilities found nowhere else in the world of audio.

Active Room Compensation

Room resonances and boundary effects from your walls significantly influence the sound your speakers produce. The Beolab 90 is equipped with Bang & Olufsen’s advanced Active Room Compensation technology, which maps your environment to compensate for the influence of your room’s architecture and furniture. It even balances out the impact of the speakers' physical placement. This state-of-the-art technology guarantees a sensational listening experience exactly where you want it.

Form Follows Function

The Beolab 90 was designed according to the principle that form follows function. The position and orientation of the individual driver units are dictated entirely by acoustic requirements. Even the arrangement of the electronics' cooling fins was chosen to ensure that rising heat would never interfere with the acoustic experience. The design is built upon a complex aluminum chassis weighing more than 65 kg (pure aluminum!), creating a rock-solid foundation. The "outer skin" provides a refined contrast to the speaker’s massive presence, consisting of acoustically transparent textile fabric that appears to stretch over the drivers like a taut sail. The curved wooden base lifts the massive construction from the floor, creating the impression that the Beolab 90 is floating in your home.

The tweeters and mid-range drivers are housed in the "tower," which is cast in a 10mm-thick composite material to achieve maximum stability. The upper enclosure is engineered as a complex geometric form, calculated and refined by acoustic engineers to extract the absolute peak performance. The lower section is finished with a wooden cover made of injection-molded oak veneer. This wooden base gives the speaker an airy feel by elevating it from the ground. The oak veneer is manufactured using time-honored techniques from the furniture industry, lending the speaker both elegance and robustness. Every Beolab 90 loudspeaker is tested at the factory in Struer, Denmark, in a purpose-built anechoic chamber. Most components are manufactured in Denmark, and final assembly takes place at Bang & Olufsen’s historic headquarters.
