Beosystem 3000c – Dune Grey Edition (Recreated Classics)

Strictly limited. Handcrafted in Struer. A legend reborn.

The Beosystem 3000c takes Bang & Olufsen's Recreated Classics Program to the next level. It bridges the gap between the analog vinyl experience of the 1980s and today's high-resolution streaming world. In Factory 3 and Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark, original units of the iconic 1985 Beogram 3000 Series (designed by B&O designer Steve McGugan) were meticulously disassembled, cleaned, precision-overhauled, and rebuilt with modern components. The aluminum parts were re-anodized in the custom Dune Grey finish and refined with hand-selected dark walnut slats. With only 100 systems produced worldwide, the Beosystem 3000c is not only an acoustic masterpiece but also a rare collector's item of enduring value.

CULTURE OF MUSIC

Beosystem 3000c honors the cultural impact of vinyl listening and embodies Bang & Olufsen’s commitment to keeping intentional music choices alive. The system unites the tactile, inimitable ritual of playing a record with the uncompromising convenience of high-resolution streaming.

Through a direct connection, the Beogram 3000c turntable is seamlessly paired with the Beolab 8 speakers. As soon as you press the start button on the turntable’s refined aluminium control panel, the entire system automatically springs to life.

Minimalistic form. Ahead of its time – remaining timeless.

When designer Steve McGugan created the Beogram 3000 Series in 1985, he shaped one of the most distinctive eras in Danish audio artistry. His declared ambition was to relieve technology of its visual weight, allowing the audio system to appear like a work of art floating freely in space.

This masterful illusion is achieved through an ingenious construction: an elevated, recessed pedestal allows the housing of the Beogram 3000c to glide seemingly weightlessly above the surface. At the visual center stands the signature patterned platter, serving as an aesthetic anchor point.

It is precisely this interplay of visual weightlessness and clear structure that embodies the unmistakable B&O design language in its purest form. Four decades later, this design is reintroduced with the Beosystem 3000c and harmoniously integrated into modern living environments.

The Art of Recreating: 11 Steps to a Flawless Rebirth

The journey of a Beosystem 3000c does not begin on the drawing board, but with the careful rediscovery of historic B&O classics. Original units of the Beogram 3000 Series arrive at Factory 3 in Struer, Denmark, where they first undergo a meticulous technical and mechanical inspection. Based on an individual service plan, every single component is professionally disassembled and cleaned down to the smallest detail.

At the steeped-in-tradition Factory 5, the aluminium elements receive their new, distinctive finish: through precise grinding, pearl-blasting, and anodizing, the exclusive Dune Grey shade is created, while in parallel the housing is prepared for its high-quality painting process. During reassembly, B&O specialists replace wear-prone electronic and mechanical parts and adapt key components to state-of-the-art technical standards, ensuring complete future-proofing.

The masterpiece is completed with the integration of refined new parts – including a crystal-clear dust lid, the newly developed SMMC1 pick-up cartridge, newly crafted aluminium buttons, fabric-covered cables, and vibration-dampening feet. Following final, precise adjustments and rigorous functional testing, each of the 100 numbered sets worldwide leaves the factory as an unmistakable piece of unique Danish craftsmanship.

Technological excellence meets decades of heritage

The acoustic fascination of Beosystem 3000c is rooted in an uncompromising analogue engineering, refined down to the finest detail. While conventional tonearms sweep across the record in an arc, the ultra-precise tangential tonearm guides the stylus in an exact straight line from the outer edge to the center – precisely how the master record was originally cut in the studio. Exceptionally delicate tracking is delivered by the SMMC1 pick-up cartridge, custom-crafted to original B&O specifications. Equipped with an extremely rigid ruby cantilever and a "Nude Contact Line" diamond cut, it reveals even the subtlest musical nuances while protecting precious vinyl grooves. Room vibrations leave playback entirely unfazed, as the pendulum suspension patented back in 1985 reliably absorbs vibrations, guaranteeing an uninterrupted listening experience.

Operation blends classic tactile sensation with intelligent automation. An integrated optical sensor automatically detects the record size upon start, selects the precise speed, and allows for up to seven consecutive repeats of the same side via the repeat function. A single touch of the finely brushed aluminium buttons on the Beogram 3000c is all it takes to initiate playback and instantly activate the connected Beolab 8 speakers. The completely overhauled RIAA phono preamplifier, integrated directly within the housing, transmits the analogue signal losslessly to the active systems via a dedicated wired connection (DIN 7-pin to USB-C).

The acoustic counterpart is formed by the two Beolab 8 active speakers, acting as a digital control center that opens the door to the modern streaming universe. Powered by the integrated Mozart platform, they not only process the turntable's analogue signal with impressive stereo precision, but also offer wireless access to Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth. Via the proprietary Speakerlink network, the system also integrates seamlessly into an existing Bang & Olufsen multiroom setup. In this way, the analogue soul of the Beogram and the digital versatility of the Beolab 8 merge into a unique, future-proof masterpiece.
